PostSubject: Dragon - 2, Angels - 0   Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:45 am

Xagygyrag proceeds around the corner with Gareth, moving surprisingly fast for a creature of its size. It takes the first side turning, one which the Angels had passed by on their way to the area where the battle occurred, and emerges into a dark chamber. This one is smaller than some of the others, and has two rows of what must be shelves placed around the circumference, beginning some fifteen feet above the ground. Gareth sees objects in many of them, including scroll tubes, boxes, rods, etc.

Not that he has much leisure to consider them, sinxe Xagygyrag places him on the ground with surprising gentleness and reaches up to pick up a rod. The dragon stares at him through huge eyes, set deep inside its skull-like face, and then makes a quick arcane gesture. It places the rod against Gareth's chest and says a word, and everything goes black.

* * * * *

Meanwhile, the others are still in the tunnel where the battle occurred, Nameless and Luna and Six on one side of a wall of force and Korm on the other.

The alienist insists that he's staying as he promised to do and tells the others to leave, quickly beginning to hand over his valued items. At this point Six mentions that he intends to stay and talk to the dragon too.

Beat me to it!

Is Korm leaving? Luna can't until Six does, since he has the Word of Recall scroll, but Korm can. Korm also happens to be on the side of the wall of force closer to the dragon, in case that matters Twisted Evil

It could brilliant... the dragon happy and smug with victory ... like the evil villian who having captured the hero discloses all.... but frankly... he didn't seem "Chatty" to me!!! LOL!!

She herself is going!!
Post Haste!!

I don't want to be here when the dragon gets back!
If need be I'll turn into the fastest smallest flying thing I can and go on wing!

I'm talking to myself??? :-D

Is six definetly staying??

I can't be here after he discovers tha loss of the magic 8 ball!

Also ... we were only passed 2 rooms in when we came to this bit and saw the cavern.. which we didn't enter.

And Korm decided not to cast "pass w/o trace" for preciecely that reason.

Okay, but that means you've got to head into areas you haven't seen before (since the Wall of Force is between you and the areas you've been in) and try to make it out on your own. So are you going ahead and flying?

You can get in the portable hole, but someone still needs to leave with it.

I don't think he got to do it yet, but it only takes a few seconds, so sure. Then he can take the portable hole and leave.

Mike, does Korm do that?

This should be Dragon -1 Angels -1 with a disqualification.

By rouge, adventure and Star Trek standards escape from an overwheming situation is a victory. However returning to it removes all bragging rights.

If Korm can get to Luna; Luna can jump in the hole.

Six is staying to talk to the dragon.

If Korm can get through or under the wall of force, he's going to stay. At least for a little while. With a readied action to cast master earth if he sees the dragon.

I don't think we should walk around en masse. We don't want to threaten the dragon, in case the dragon runs into us. But we do want to find the information.

Wait... the writing carved into the walls said that the scaled apostate sacrified a holy avenger to gain knowledge. Maybe that's how the secrets in this place can be obtained. And what the Dragon is doing... DAMNIT, we just lost the biggest sacrifices we could have used! We have to rescue Gareth and Nameless, so we can ritually kill them!

I don't think we have to worry about that one

Pretty sure we just fulfilled another portion of the prophecy with the dragon getting to sacrifice Gareth - the holy avenger. As for Nameless- he's already been sacrificed - don't think there is anything holy about him Smile

The dragon had no interest in speaking with us before... and is going to kill 2 of our party members!! I don't think hanging around to talk is a good plan!!

I REALLY REALLY DONT!!

How was korm going to leave?
Maybe he could give me his means of escape and go with six when he tries to leave.

Though.. personally.. I don't think they will be needing it!!

He's using a monk spell Smile

Okay, okay - I kid. He's using a Druid spell called Master Earth which lets one travel through the earth to any given point, but you can't carry anyone with you. I think that should be one of the non-core spells chosen by Luna, since it's a very handy one. It's 7th lvl.

One day, when they come and take me away, I'll read the DnD rules and take notes. Obviously doing so is Lovecraftian thus breaks all causation. I'll be taken away because I've read it and because I'll read it I'll be taken away.

Korm creates a hole and slides under the wall of force and up on the other side to join Luna, Six and Nameless. Luna transforms from a giant tendriculos into a shifter and jumps into the portable hole, which is on the ground near Korm and Six, with a lot of Nameless' possessions within.

At this point Xagygyrag strides sinuously around the corner ahead. Gareth is not with him, but he carries a large rod, looking like a toothpick in the grasp of his left forelimb. Nameless detects multiple magical auras on it, and a few more on the dragon, who has evidently raised some more magical defenses.

"Ah!" he smiles, revealing all his fangs, "I thought you might not be here when I return." He says a word and the wall of force fades away. As the dragon walks forward, he asks, "Are the rest of you waiting to see your comrade leave? Or do you wish to stay too?"

You know - given the dragon didn't keep his end of the bargain (he didn't release Korm) Nameless is not obligated to live up to his part. You should all flee.

Why Nameless is voluntarily letting himself die when it is not needed is beyond me. It's almost as if Nameless likes to die.....
